BioCloudcuckooland: a city built on air above the plain of Phlegra, Greece. It was founded by an Athenian, Pesithetaerus, towards 400BC, as a stronghold for birds of all species, and was dedicated to the Persian Prince Cockerel, the God of War of birds. The plans of Cloudcuckooland were laid by squaring a circle. In the centre was the marketplace and from there the streets led out in all directions. Ruins of the city still exist today, notably the gate in the Great Wall, built of wood by flocks of pelicans.
It is said that from this stronghold the birds claimed the sovereignty of the world, and used the walls as a barrier to stop the sacrifices offered by men from reaching the sky, thus starving the gods into submission.
